What Makes This Class Special:
Painted enamel is one of the oldest decorative arts, treasured for centuries in fine jewelry and watchmaking. It requires great precision, and the results are always exquisite. In this class, you’ll first grind and mix enamel powders to make your own painting pigments—a soothing, almost cooking-like process. Then you’ll paint layer by layer on metal, fire it in the kiln, and create delicate details, gradients, and even miniature paintings in your own pendant or charm.
What’s Included:
• Copper base plates for enameling
• A selection of enamel powder
• Brushes, mixing palette, kiln, and all necessary tools
• One complimentary drink
• A ribbon will be provided for wearing as a necklace, if needed
• Your finished painted enamel pendant or charm to take home
Techniques You’ll Learn:
• Mixing and preparing enamel color
• Painting enamel layer by layer
• Drying and kiln firing
• Building gradients and shading through multiple firings
Who This Class Is For:
No metalsmithing experience is needed. It’s very beginner-friendly and open to all. If you enjoy painting or drawing, that’s a bonus, since the process feels very similar. Suitable for adults and teens (middle school and above).
